Rangers appear to have hit a stumbling block in their attempts to sign Cardiff City defender Glenn Loovens.
BBC Scotland has learned that the Ibrox club are prepared to offer striker Kris Boyd as part of the deal to bring the Dutchman to Glasgow.
In addition, Rangers want Cardiff to pay them £800,000 to balance the deal.
However, Cardiff have rejected the bid as the Championship side believe it is Rangers and not they who should be making the extra payment. Source - BBC Sport

RANGERS will have to shell out if they want to sign Dutch defender Glenn Loovens from Cardiff City - unless they can strike a player swap deal.
The 24-year-old former Feyenoord man is on Gers gaffer Walter Smith's shortlist as he attempts to bolster his options at the back.
Rangers have held initial talks with the Welsh side over Loovens, a 6ft 2in stopper who is now into the final year of his deal after arriving from Holland in 2006 for £250,000.
But sources at Ninian Park say they want in excess of £2m for the former Dutch Under-21 international, even though he only has 12 months of his deal to run and has insisted he won't sign a new contract.
Cardiff are still keen on Kris Boyd, after having a £2.5m bid rejected for him last month, and would be interested in using the Scotland striker in any deal. Daniel Cousin has also been discussed between the clubs as part of the move for Loovens. Source - Evening Times

Cardiff City have confirmed that they have received bids for Dutch defender Glenn Loovens.
The Bluebirds are refusing to reveal which clubs are interested in signing the 24-year-old.
But BBC Wales understands that none of the bids have met their valuation for £3m-rated Loovens.
Scottish Premier League sides Rangers and Celtic have both been linked to the player who has a year left to run on his contract.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones said last month: "If he stays then fantastic, but if he goes, I'll have to replace him - that's football."
Loovens' performances alongside Roger Johnson in defence last season were hailed as Cardiff marched to the FA Cup final.
The former Feyenoord trainee has been heavily linked with a move away from Ninian Park over the summer.
He has been offered a new contract by Cardiff, but has yet to put pen to paper fuelling speculation about a move. Source - BBC Sport |
