Rangers are reported to be interested in AZ striker Danny Koevermans, who could move to Ibrox in an exchange deal for Thomas Buffel.

Rangers boss Walter Smith is thought to be looking for a striker ahead Dado Prso's departure from Ibrox at the end of the season, and the powerful Dutchman could prove the ideal replacement.

Reports suggest that AZ would want £2m for Koevermans, who has been key to the club's title challenge and UEFA Cup run

"Rangers are a great club and I have heard enough positive stories about them from Shota (Arveeladze)," Koevermans said.

"He told me about the fantastic time he had there. I'm happy at AZ, but you never know - we'll wait and see."

The Evening Times also reports that AZ manager Louis van Gaal would be interested in a swap-deal for Buffel.

The former Feyenoord forward has been injured since early February and has had little chance to impress under Smith who took charge of the club for the second time in January. Source - eurosport

Smith has also been linked with a £2million move for AZ Alkmaar striker Danny Koevermans. The 28-year-old made his debut for Holland against Slovenia this week and has banged in 20 goals for the Dutch side.

Koevermans said today: "Rangers are a great club and I have heard stories about them from my team-mate here, Shota Arveladze. Right now I am happy at AZ, but in football you never know.

Smith would like to bring in a little and large combination to provide support for top scorer Kris Boyd.
