Rangers are reported to be planning a move for Bordeaux defender Julien Faubert.
Reports emanating from France claim Rangers are lining up a move to reunite Faubert with Jean-Claude Darcheville at Ibrox.
Highly-rated defender Faubert is believed to be keen on a move away from Bordeaux for a fresh challenge.
The French international has attracted the interest of a host of clubs with a number of Italian sides keeping tabs on his situation.
However, Rangers are hoping to lure Faubert to Glasgow by offering him a lucrative four-and-a-half year deal.

Rangers are to sign Girondins de Bordeaux winger Julien Faubert for £4.3m, according to L'Equipe.
He would follow striker Jean-Claude Darcheville from the French club to Ibrox should the reported four-year contract be confirmed.
The 23-year-old Faubert, who joined Bordeaux from Cannes in 2004, has been capped twice by France.
He made his debut in August against Bosnia, scoring a last-minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory for the French.

BORDEAUX last night slapped a huge £10million price tag on the head of Rangers target Julien Faubert.
Record Sport understands Ibrox boss Walter Smith is ready to weigh in with a bid of around £5m for the 23-year-old France midfielder. But in an exclusive interview Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud insisted he wants to keep Faubert.
He said: "We have never discussed the transfer of this player with Glasgow Rangers. We understand the agent has been very active but we don't want to sell him.
"But even if we did agree to sell £5m would be too low. We do not have a fixed price for him but it would have to be double the kind of money that is being talked about."
Sources inside Ibrox remain confident a bid of £5m will be enough to land a player understood to have set his heart on a move to Glasgow, where he will be offered a four-year deal.
Faubert's representatives are expected to meet with Triaud in the next 48 hours to demand that the player is allowed to move on.
And Smith is hopeful a deal can be thrashed out, possibly before the end of the week. He also hopes to parade DaMarcus Beasley on Wednesday or Thursday after finalising the USA winger's £700,000 move from PSV Eindhoven.
Rangers are continuing to haggle with Osasuna for Carlos Cuellar - despite claims yesterday the deal for the centre-half had hit the rocks - with Wigan's Lee McCulloch also still on Smith's radar.
But Faubert has emerged as Smith's top target and chief executive Martin Bain is now set to make an official offer. Triaud, however, is upset at the role played by Faubert's agents.
He said: "If Rangers want information they should speak to Bordeaux - not the agents. The agents are acting for themselves. They do not care about the club.
"I was impressed by Rangers when they signed Jean-Claude Darcheville from us. If they want to continue a good relationship with us they have to make direct contact and not work with the agents." Source - Daily Record

Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has confirmed Julien Faubert wants to join Rangers.
The Scottish giants are tipped to make a £5million offer for the winger, although Triaud has suggested the France international would cost double that sum.
The Bordeaux supremo has met with the player and concedes the 23-year-old's preference is to move to Ibrox.
"We had a meeting with the player and his agent.," Triaud, who insists he is under no pressure to sell, told the Daily Record.
"They said they could be interested in moving to another club and that their idea is to move to Glasgow Rangers.
"But I told the player he is under contract to us, the club wants to keep him and we have had absolutely no contact from Glasgow Rangers, so basically, I don't know why we are bothering to have this discussion.
"I still don't know exactly what part the agent has played in this whole situation and what part the player has had in it.
"But we have heard nothing from Rangers, so I don't know why the player and his agent asked to meet with me.
"If we have had no contact from Rangers then there is absolutely nothing to discuss." Source - Sky Sports News

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud believes that Rangers target Julien Faubert will have signed for another club by Monday.
Rangers had a reported £4m offer for the France winger rejected by the French club.
"As soon as we have agreement with the player and the club, we will announce it," said Triaud.
"But the player will have to undergo his medical, so it might have to wait until Monday."
Italian clubs Fiorentina and Roma have also been linked with Faubert.
Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc had wanted to keep the 23-year-old but is now resigned to losing him after he refused to train with their squad this week.
"It's simple," said Triaud. "The coach wanted to keep the player, but the player wanted to play for another club.
"Given the player's wishes, we are prepared to consider it, but it would need to be a significant bid.
"With Rangers, the proposition was not significant for Bordeaux. So I don't think the deal will be done."
Triaud confirmed that Rangers had all but run out of time to submit a new bid.
"I think any offer that might come would come too late," said Triaud.
Faubert is reportedly determined to join former Bordeaux club-mate Jean-Claude Darcheville at Ibrox, despite being offered a new contract.
His agent, Philippe Sol, had said: "His only intention is to leave and he wants Bordeaux to do a deal with Rangers.
"Bordeaux are refusing to do that at the moment, so Julien has taken the decision not to train to make his feelings clear."
Faubert's existing contract still has four more years to run and Bordeaux were said to be demanding double Rangers' original offer. Source - BBC Sport
