Rangers are in talks to bring PSV Eindhoven’s star left winger DaMarcus Beasley to Ibrox.
SunSport can reveal that Gers boss Walter Smith has been in negotiations with the 25-year-old American’s agent while he has been stateside on the club’s end of season jaunt to Los Angeles.
Smith saw his side win 1-0 against LA Galaxy in the early hours of Thursday thanks to Kris Boyd’s goal but behind the scenes he has also been working on a number of deals.
That includes a bid to take over the last year of Beasley’s deal and boost his attacking options.
The American international spent last season on loan at Manchester City but managed just four goals in 13 starts due to injury problems.
He was sent back to Holland after the sacking of Stuart Pearce but has no future at PSV under Ronald Koeman and now Gers are set to swoop.
An agreement could be struck to pay a loan fee for the final year of the deal or even take him on a permanent switch.
Smith’s limited summer budget of around £10 million tops to bring in at least six new faces saw him lose out to Celtic in the £4.4million chase for Hibs’ Scott Brown.

After failing to win a permanent deal at Manchester City, DaMarcus Beasley has been linked with a move to SPL runners-up Rangers.
The United States international has been told that City are unwilling to transform his loan from PSV Eindhoven into a longer stay and he has since attracted interest from Scotland.
Rangers boss Walter Smith is believed to be an admirer of the forward and has reportedly entered into talks with Beasley about a move to Ibrox.
However, the player's agent Lyle Yorks claims a number of English clubs are also tracking the 25-year-old.
"There are several teams that have expressed an interest in DaMarcus in the UK," Yorks told the Daily Star Sunday.

RANGERS were today closing in on American left winger DaMarcus Beasley. Talks with his Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven, and the player's agent have progressed well over the past week and the Ibrox club hope to secure the 25-year-old soon.
Despite interest from England, the lightning-quick Beasley wants to move to Rangers. And the deal could even be finalised with the Ibrox club's hierarchy in the States this weekend.
Manager Walter Smith and chief executive Martin Bain are attending the NARSA fans convention in Naples, Florida. Beasley played the full 90 minutes for the USA last night as they beat Guatemala 1-0 in their Gold Cup opening match in Los Angeles.
His Virginia-based agent, Lyle Yorks, would only say: "At the moment, DaMarcus is still a PSV player. But I can confirm there has been firm interest in him from the UK and talks are on-going."

Rangers have expressed an interest in USA international DaMarcus Beasley, according to the winger's agent.
Beasley, 25, is presently with PSV Eindhoven, but agent Lyle Yorks hopes that the Scottish club can agree a fee with the player's Dutch employers.
"I can confirm there is interest in DaMarcus from Rangers and he would be delighted to join a club of their stature," Yorks told the Daily Record.
"He's spoken to Claudio Reyna many times about his time in Glasgow."
Beasley spent last season as a team-mate of Reyna's while on loan with Manchester City.
He made 22 appearances, nine from the substitutes' bench, for the Premiership outfit.
But City decided they were not interested in extending his stay in England.
"He knows all about Walter Smith's terrific track record as a manager and would love to play for him, despite interest from England and Europe," said Yorks.
"DaMarcus has one year left on his contract at PSV. So, if a move does go ahead, there will have to be a transfer fee involved.

DaMarcus Beasley says a transfer deal away from PSV Eindhoven to another European club has been agreed, with Rangers thought to be his destination.
The winger will complete his move after playing for the USA against Mexico in Sunday's final of the Gold Cup.
Beasley said: "I can't say where I'm playing, but I do know where I'm going.
"There have been a lot of things said in the papers - rumours this, rumours that. I'm glad I can finally be done with that."
The 25-year-old joined PSV for £1.5m in 2004 after more than four seasons with Major League Soccer outfit Chicago Fire.
He was farmed out to Manchester City last season, scoring three goals in 18 games for the Premier League club during his loan spell in England.
His transfer has been delayed by the USA's progress in the Gold Cup, the international tournament involving countries in the Caribbean and North and Central America.
Beasley won a penalty as the USA reached the final with a controversial 2-1 victory over Canada in their semi-final, while Mexico beat Guadeloupe 1-0.
The winger was brought down by goalkeeper Pat Onstad, allowing Landon Donovan to score put the USA 2-0 ahead from the penalty spot before the Canadians had an injury-time equaliser disallowed.
He had previously confirmed that Rangers were one of the clubs interested in his signature.
But he insisted nothing had been finalised and that he would not reveal his preferred destination until the Gold Cup campaign was over.
Beasley has been left out of the squad for the forthcoming Copa America, the USA competing as guests in the 12-nation championship of South America, as he decides his own club future.
Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven chief executive Stan Valckx told The Sun: "There has been significant progress in the negotiations between ourselves and Rangers.
"The discussions have been accelerated, but we must wait until after DaMarcus plays for his country on Sunday."
Rangers reportedly tabled an initial bid of £500,000 but may have had to move closer to £1m to secure the midfielder's services. Source - BBC Sport |
