Celtic and Rangers, as well as two German clubs, are considering bids for Hearts defender Andy Webster, BBC Scotland understands.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Moenchengladbach have been alerted to Webster's situation by the former Scotland manager Berti Vogts.

Webster has handed his notice in at Tynecastle and could leave for as little as £200,000 as of 1 July.

The Old Firm, though, are likely to have to pay more if they want him.

Clubs outside Scotland could land the player for such a figure - the exact amount being set by the Disputes Resolution Chamber in Switzerland - under article 17 of the Fifa regulations, which allows players under 28 who have served three years of a four-year deal to hand in their notice.

But that does not apply to interested Scottish clubs, with the end of June marking the deadline by which Rangers or Celtic would have to make a bid. Source - BBC Sport

Andy Webster may have played his last game for Hearts after falling out with club owner Vladimir Romanov over reports of a move to Rangers

The Scottish international was left out of the squad for the weekend derby with Hibs and Romanov told the Daily Record that he believes the player's agent, Charlie Duddy, has been trying to secure a deal for his man at Ibrox.

Romanov said: "There have been statements in the media that Webster is looking for another club. I heard the name of Rangers among those he is supposedly looking at.

"I was told Webster's agent has made several statements to this effect. It means we can't be totally sure we can rely on the player.

"This situation is entirely the result of his agent's games which do not help the club or the player.

The club should not work any more with agents like this because they start winding up the players.

"For the club, it means our only option is to put him on the transfer list."

Webster still has one more year left on his Tynecastle contract. Source - FansFC
