Lille skipper Gregory Tafforeau is a target for new Rangers boss Paul Le Guen. The 29-year-old left back has a year left on his contract and would cost around £1.3m. Talks over a deal to keep him at Lille have faltered and he is set to leave in the summer, with Monaco also keen on a deal for his services.

"I know there is an interest from Rangers," said Tafforeau.

"They are still waiting for my situation to become clearer.

"It is true, Monaco are following me. They are not the only club.

"I am 29 and I have had two clubs in my life - Caen and Lille. I don't consider myself a man who plays for money, who is absolutely running after 'a last beautiful contract'." Source - FansFC

Gregory Tafforeau is the latest player to be mentioned as a potential target for incoming Ibrox boss Paul Le Guen.

The 29-year-old left-back is out of contract with Lille at the end of the current season and is wanted by both Monaco and Rangers.

A source close to negotiations told the Daily Record: "There is no doubt that Le Guen and his assistant Yves Colleu are watching a number of players in France right now but most of the names which have been reported in the papers in France are simply not true.

"However, it is true he is interested in Tafforeau and the player himself has been made aware of this.

"The problem for Rangers and for Le Guen is Monaco are also very interested in signing this player and the player himself sees that as his preferred option."

Paul Le Guen could make Lille's Gregory Tafforeau his first Rangers signing according to reports in France.

The talented 29-year-old is well known by former Lyon chief Le Guen and is thus far stalling on a contract extension put forward by Lille.

Monaco were thought to have had contact in January but it has been suggested that Rangers could now step-in in the summer, although Werder Bremen are monitoring the left-footer's situation with interest. Source - Sky Sports
