Reports in Portugal suggest that Rangers are considering a move for Sporting goalkeeper Ricardo.

The Portuguese international, who famously dumped England out of Euro 2004 with his penalty shoot-out heroics, has reputedly been targeted by incoming Gers boss Paul Le Guen as he looks to rebuild the side in the wake of their disappointing season.

Current number one Ronald Waterreus is yet to decide on his future with his contract up in the summer, and as such the SPL side could be on the lookout for a new custodian.

Stefan Klos is content to stay despite hardly featuring at Ibrox this season, but Le Guen is reportedly keen to bring Ricardo to Scotland to further Rangers' title charge next season.

However Ricardo's agent has denied that his client is ready to leave Lisbon after also being heavily linked with a move to England last summer.

"We are contented if interest from other clubs exists, because it is recognition of his work," Nuno Baptista told O Jogo.

"But Ricardo's future lies with Sporting." Source - Sky Sports
