French international Sidney Govou admits he is not currently tempted by a possible move to Rangers.

Former Lyon coach Paul Le Guen takes charge at Ibrox this summer and Govou is one of a host of French names being linked with a move to Glasgow.

Le Guen is expected to bring in a number of big names with the financial backing of Gers supremo David Murray.

Govou, though, admits that he is not enamoured by Rangers and Scotland in general.

"Could I join Le Guen at Rangers? I don't know," he told But!

"I don't think I will go there, Scotland is not a league that attracts me."

Govou does admit he could change his mind - but also suggests Marseille would be his preferred destination.

"Perhaps I won't have the same words in a few weeks," he admitted.

"Anyway Paul didn't call me, but L'OM? May be.

"That could be exciting. L'OM is a special club."

Govou also admits that he now must leave Lyon this summer.

"I still have two years remaining on my Lyon contract, and at the moment I am thinking about my future," he said.

"Before, I wanted to leave to improve, I see me in a great foreign club, but now things have changed and I absolutely need to see something else.

"It is more psychological thing than a sport one.

"I won't look only at a club's status."

The striker insists that things at Lyon have changed.

"Things are really different at the club now, the atmosphere, daily life," he said.

French winger Sidney Govou has told Lyon that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The 26-year-old French international has been an integral part of the club's Ligue 1 championship win and impressive UEFA Champions League display this season.

He was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer, but could not reach a deal with boss Rafa Benitez.

And incoming Rangers boss Paul Le Guen is reported to have made the wide man top of his summer wish list.

Le Guen arrives at Ibrox at the end of the SPL season knowing that the club have missed out on UEFA Champions League football to Hearts for next season, but even that may not deter Govou.

"A lot of things have changed since last year," Govou told Lyon's official website.

"Before I wanted to leave in order to progress, but now I just feel it is the right time for me to experience something else.

"Of course, I would like to play in the Champions League every season of my career, but I have to make choices.

"At the moment, it is not essential for me to play Champions League football, other details count.'' Source - Sky Sports

Incoming Rangers boss Paul Le Guen is believed to have put Lyon forward Sidney Govou at the top of his shopping list.

Le Guen is already planning major changes at Ibrox when he takes over from Alex McLeish at the end of this season. The Frenchman is scouring the transfer market for reinforcements and reports emanating from France claim he is ready to raid old club Lyon for Govou.

Govou came close to leaving Lyon last summer as he seeks a new experience away from Stade Gerland. Le Guen is a big admirer of Govou having worked with him at Lyon and is hoping to lure him to Scotland.

Lyon are thought to be willing to let him leave for the right offer and Le Guen is ready to firm up his interest in the versatile forward. Govou's agent Frederic Guerra insists he has not had any contact with Le Guen or Rangers over the player.

"I haven't received any phone calls about that," Guerra told skysports.com.

"We are obliged to wait to know about the situation.

"Maybe Le Guen has asked Lyon for Sidney, but he hasn't called me yet."
