Rangers have signed 25-year-old Spanish central defender Carlos Cuellar in a £2.5 million deal. Carlos is Walter Smith's 6th signing of the summer and tops the list with the largest fee. Smith told the official Rangers FC web site:

"We're delighted to sign Carlos. We were impressed with him when we went to watch Osasuna before our UEFA Cup tie and also in the tie itself.

"We then followed up on that and decided to make an offer to Osasuna. I'm very pleased that we have now done the deal and I feel sure he will be an excellent addition to our squad."

Carlos told Rangers World he joined Rangers as the club had a good philosophy and were an established European side. He also told of great atmospherehis Osasuna team mates and he experienced at Ibrox.
