Rangers sign Giorgos Efrem on 2-year deal

Rangers have signed 17 year old midfielder Giorgos Efrem from Arsenal. The Cypriot youngsters transfer was exclusively revealed by gersforum.co.uk member pamposX and has kindly posted Giorgos first interview as a Rangers Player.

Giorgos, what are your first thoughts as footballer of Rangers?

Sure its a very good prospect for my career. I am happy that i was given this opportunity. Rangers is a big team in Europe. What remains now, is the hard work through the trainings.

Do you believe that you will gain a place in the team?

If I did not believe, I wouldnt go. I am decided to work very hardly and I believe that i will make it. It is given that there will be enough competition in the team. Rangers have footballers worthing millions of euros. It is reasonable that i will have to work a lot, it depends from me. If I deserve it I will play.

Does something exist that scares you going to Scotland? It will be an unknown environment and perhaps you will need some time in order to adopt your new team.

I do not believe that something exists to scare me. I have spoken also with somebodie from the administration of Rangers and they said to me who will be mt roomate I will be together with one Irish coplayer. Perhaps I will need some time in order to adopt in my new life and i think its reasonable, but its not going to take a lot of time. Little in the beginning.

Did the economic play role in order to accept the proposal of Rangers?

It is known that had proposals from Apollon and from the Panionios. It did not play role the economics. Moreover the proposal of Apollon was almost the same as Rangers one. I preferred Scotland because I wanted to make another step in my carreer. It was a challenge for me the proposal from the Rangers. Sure some moment I will return in my beloved team, the Apollon. I thank them very much for the proposal that they have made to me and I wish the team to do better the new period. The place that suits the Apollon is that of top.

For 3 years you were in Arsenal, even if you have not play with the first team, nevertheless you made enough trainings with the first team. What you have gained from this Arsenal leaving?

A lot of experiences and recollections. In the Arsenal I was improved a lot as footballer. Existed big competition and enough difficult games. Even in the second team, the level is very big and difficult. Best however there were the trainings that I made with the first team. Whenever I was training with the first team, I had the impression that I lived a dream. Training with footballers as the Anry', Ljoypergk, Van Pe'rsj, Fabregkas and a lot of other stars, they are something exceptional and certainly positive you only can take.

What is your advantage and whats your disadvantage?

I am enough fast with the ball and i have very good pass. I help a lot in the playmaking of the team and in the aggressive sector. It will have to improve my defensive duties, this is also my disadvantage.

What are your dreams and your ambitions for the future?

I want to gain place basic in the Rangers and to fight in the Champions league. Still the objective of each footballer is to play with the National team, thus for me too is not exception this big objective.
