Rangers should being doing better!
For years upon years the mighty Glasgow Rangers have been performing in Europe. Many times as underdogs we have achieved greatness, however in recent years Rangers have been faltering at the easiest of hurdles. Anyone can forgive a side that is rebuilding to lose against CSKA Moscow but not when they are half way through a season and don't qualify in one of the easiest groups In the UEFA Cup. Poor performances against a strike it lucky AZ Alkmaar side and a lacklustre Auxerre side who are the equivalent of Bolton in the premiership was just not good enough.
Looking back at the UEFA cup competition this year it is hard to believe sides like CSKA Moscow who lost one of there best players to Chelsea , can still perform heroically and achieve qualification to a major final. AZ Alkmaar on the other hand could count themselves very unlucky not to progress to the final themselves after a late Sporting goal seal AZ Alkmaar's fate.
Rangers have the beating of these two sides without doubt, but for some reason never seem to perform<br>As well on the big stage as they should do. I put this down to two main reasons. The first: Rangers seem to always choke even when it is in their own hands, eg; Victoria Zizkov, Monaco and Auxerre. The other fact would be that we continue to keep useless players at the club, Maurice Ross, Lovenkrands are just two of these players. Rangers must strengthen the whole of the squad and hopefully with a bit of luck at least qualify for the Champions League next season.
