Our Identity

I'm fed up reading the 'lets employ youths and say that will be a great team in 10 years' topics

Its all very well getting our identity back, this identity does not lie with players who are just about good enough for St Mirren but cant stay off the drink, and our successor to Klos certainly wont be found in a goal keeper who couldn't hold down a place in the Stirling Albion team. Alan Lowing and Steven Smith may be doing ok, but all youngsters go through a honeymoon period i.e. Aiden McGeady.

Its time to get our real identity back!

Rangers identity is not youth

Its not Scottish (In my honest opinion its Scottish/British but that's not up for discussion here)

Rangers identity is not a team of 11 Bob Malcolm's who bleed blue

Rangers identity IS winners.

Rangers are the most successful team in the world. Don't let the I'm young Scottish and bleed blue blur your vision, its all very good too see some youths in our team do well, but the Charlie Adam's etc or even the Bob Malcolm's and Steven Smith's will not take Rangers to new levels. We need winners and we need to take players who have been successful.

Goram (success at Hibs)
Robertson (success at Aberdeen)
Gough (success at Dundee United)
Alan McLaren (success at hearts) (major signing if he didn't get injured)
John Brown (signed from Dundee)
Stuart McCall (signed from Bradford)
Ian Ferguson (signed from St Mirren)
Ian Durant (youth product)
Steven (Signed from Everton)
McCoist (started at St Johnstone and was a success not too great at Sunderland)
Hately (signed from Monaco)

This is probably the best team Rangers have ever had in there history. One is a youth player and one came from a club that had a great reputation, the others come from teams that weren't rangers class, but take a winner or a success from a lower team and they will enhance your team whether or not there original team is as good as rangers.

Next time it comes to a choice of Kris Boyd (The 'killie' standard striker who is a fan) or Ross McCormack (whom most no nothing about other than he's young and has shown potential) look to the 92-93 team and ask yourself, is it so bad to sign other teams best players even if they don't come from a great club.
